Our Program
At Pinjarra, we are dedicated to offering a play-based educational program that nurtures a love for learning in children of all ages, starting as young as six weeks. Our program is thoughtfully designed to cover essential areas of development, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore, create, and learn in a safe and supportive environment. Below, we outline our key focus areas and how we support children's growth in each one.

Language & Literacy
We aim for children to develop communication skills, vocabulary, and a love for reading and storytelling. By introducing them to rich language experiences, they start to develop a better understanding of the world around them.

Educators engage with children using songs, stories, and conversation. In our classrooms, you'll find a language-rich environment filled with books and interactive activities that encourage verbal expression. For our youngest learners, we use board books and nursery rhymes to foster early language skills. For our older learners, we encourage letter recognition through learning their names and key words which leads to learning and practising early writing skills. Additionally, our pre-schoolers engage in chapter books, support their comprehension skills and expanding their vocabulary by searching the meaning of new words with their teachers.

Numeracy
We support the children to develop early numeracy skills, including counting, recognising shapes, and understanding measurements through play and exploration.

Educators incorporate numeracy into everyday activities, such as counting blocks during play or measuring ingredients while cooking. Even with our youngest children, simple shape sorting and counting games introduce fundamental concepts in a fun, engaging way. Our pre-schoolers are challenged with puzzles, tangrams, simple addition and number recognition and writing. We also incorporate technology where the pre-schoolers learn simple addition and subtraction while playing OSMO Numbers.

Science & Construction
Our goal is for children to develop curiosity about the natural world and the basic principles of science and engineering through exploration and experimentation.

We create opportunities for hands-on experiments and building activities. From water play to sand exploration, educators encourage children to ask questions and find answers, helping them develop critical thinking skills. For our infants, sensory play with various textures introduces basic scientific concepts. In our pre-school program, we include various science experiments, LEGO with instructions, and engineering mazes for marbles or our small electric bugs.

Creative Arts
We believe in fostering creativity and self-expression through various artistic mediums, including visual arts, music and dance.

Our educators provide a wide range of materials for children to express themselves creatively, such as paint, clay, and dancing scarves. We encourage free play in art and imaginative role play, allowing even our youngest learners to explore textures and colours through finger painting and simple rhythm activities. Our older children use various resources to explore their creative side, such as box-construction, drawing what they built and characters from their chapter books.

Social & Wellbeing
We focus on helping children develop social skills, empathy, and emotional intelligence as they interact with their peers.

Through group activities, shared play, and guided discussions, educators model positive interactions and encourage children to express their feelings and work through conflicts. Even in our infant care, we promote social interaction through educator support and peer engagement during playtime.

Music & Movement
We are supporting the children to develop coordination, rhythm, and an appreciation for music and movement as essential components of their growth.

Our program includes regular music and movement sessions, where educators lead activities that involve dancing, singing, and playing instruments. For our youngest children, gentle movement activities and rhythmic songs create an engaging environment that promotes motor skills and auditory development. Our pre-school children engage in yoga and make up their own yoga poses. They often build their own obstacle courses.
